Tis’ the season…

Happy Snow Day to all!

Our first real snow of the season, and we must admit, it’s pretty beautiful outside (despite how chaotic the roads are). We will do our best to still accommodate all scheduled walks in inclement weather. In the case of severe weather in which driving conditions are dangerous, we will notify you by 8am if your walker isn’t able to make it. We also appreciate your patience and flexibility during winter weather conditions. Occasionally your walker may be later than your normally scheduled walk due to road conditions. Thanks in advance for your understanding.

As mentioned in the previous newsletter, this time of year is extremely busy for us. This year we are asking that all requests for walks from 12/25-12/27 be made no later than December 15th. Unfortunately we will not be able to accommodate last minute requests. Also, please let us know if there will be a change in your regular schedule the week of 12/28/09.

We hope everyone is enjoying this winter weather! While most dogs love the snow, if your dog has a particular aversion or sensitivity to the cold, please let us know. This is also a good time of year to leave out a towel so we can dry your pup’s paws before coming back into the house.

Wishing you, your families, and your wonderful furry friends (who we are so lucky to spend time with!) a joyous holiday season and a very happy New Year. We are looking forward to another fun winter with the best dogs (and cats) on the planet!

All the best,

Hounds on the Hudson

Midnight (1996-2009)

September 15th, 2009

Today we said goodbye to our dear friend Midnight.

Midnight, you were an amazing friend and were the sweetest and most gentle soul. You were a friend to all dogs, a chaser of all cats, and the most loyal and loving companion a person could ask for. You touched our lives so deeply and so profoundly. We will never forget you, Midi.

Goodnight, sweet girl.

The Dog Days of Summer…kind of.

July 20th, 2009

Well, summer is officially here, though you sure could have fooled us. Record lows in July and abundant rain fall have kept the pups and their walkers nice and cool, and well…a bit damp. Though it’s not the perfect beach weather, we are hardly complaining. This has been an ideal summer for staying out on long walks and spending extra time socializing at the park. Not to mention that our bulldogs can actually breathe, which makes everyone so much happier!

Our biggest news these days at Hounds on the Hudson is that we are expanding our pack! Jen and Mike are expecting their first human baby this August and couldn’t be more thrilled. Jen will be taking some time off with the new arrival, but you can still expect the same exceptional service from the rest of the crew. And of course, when the baby gets big enough Jen will begin training him or her in the fine art of dog walking–afterall, you can never start the dog/human bond too early!

Summer is a busy time for us, so get your dog walking or pet sitting requests in early! As a reminder, in addition to mid-day walks, we also provide early morning, evening, and bed time walks and feeding when you are out of town. Please schedule all visits with the office.

Thank you all for your continued support and patronage, and enjoy this wonderful summer!
